Global Standard for Food Safety V9

To encapsulate why the BRCGS Food Safety Standard is so important, it is seen as the entry requirement to the UK retail and manufacturing market.

The food safety standard was drawn up in the main by UK regulatory bodies, UK supermarkets and leading food industry processors. Specialist consultants were brought in to assist them in their fulfilment of legal obligations towards the protection of the consumers. The food safety standard encompasses fundamental principles detailed in the Food Safety Act and also draws from the retailer's own standards.

The BRCGS standard is recognised by the majority of supermarkets, leading processors, and food service companies. The food safety standard is being used as a vehicle to approve a supplier, indeed in many instances, it is a required standard to supply certain companies.

The BRCGS food safety standard is being adopted not only in the UK but also worldwide as it is seen as an entry into premium UK markets.

Global Standard for Storage and Distribution Standard V4

The Global Standard for Storage and Distribution has been developed to provide a framework to manage product safety, quality and legality within the storage and transportation supply chain.

It is an obvious thing to say that Storage and Distribution can have as major an influence in product safety and quality standards as the producers and can have a direct say in an effective chain of traceability.

The Global Standard for Storage and Distribution V4 offers such bodies the means to show off both their food safety & legislative excellence.

The Global Standard for Storage and Distribution V4 has a scope which covers certification for the following categories of products:

• Product storage
• Packaging materials storage
• Transportation of goods.

Global Standard for Agents and Brokers Accreditation Standard V3

The Global Standard for Agents and Brokers is an accreditation standard aiming to fill an obvious gap in the supply chain. This Global Standard for Agents and Brokers has been developed to provide a framework to manage product safety, quality and legality for businesses in the food and food packaging industries which buy, sell or facilitate the trade of products but do not process or store/ distribute anything directly.

An Agent/ Broker plays an essential role in the movement and trade of products and provides the final critical linkage in the food supply chain.
