Global Standard for Food Safety
To encapsulate why the BRC Food Safety Standard is so important, it is seen as the entry requirement to the UK retail and manufacturing market.
The food safety standard was drawn up in the main by UK regulatory bodies, UK supermarkets and leading food industry processors. The Global Standard for Agents and Brokers is an accreditation standard aiming to fill an obvious gap in the supply chain. This Global Standard for Agents and Brokers has been developed to provide a framework to manage product safety, quality and legality for businesses in the food and food packaging industries which buy, sell or facilitate the trade of products but do not process or store/ distribute anything directly. An Agent/ Broker plays an essential role in the movement and trade of products and provides the final critical linkage in the food supply chain.
